Meet the founder of FausfordAI

Bernard Asante is the Founding President of FausfordAI, an international initiative dedicated to democratizing artificial intelligence (AI) education and fostering innovation among aspiring researchers, particularly in underserved regions. 

With a rare interdisciplinary background spanning medical and health sciences, epidemiological research, and advanced machine learning, Bernard brings visionary leadership to the organization’s mission to build inclusive and impactful AI solutions for global health and development challenges. 

Over the past several years, Bernard has led and collaborated on numerous projects, including the use of synthetic health records for machine learning, federated learning for privacy-preserving AI, and wearable technology evaluation. He has presented his work at major conferences, including the Canadian Statistical Society Meeting, and he has a professional and/or educational network with organizations such as AI4PH Canada, Compute Ontario, Team INTERACT, and the Digital Research Alliance of Canada. 

Through FausfordAI, Bernard has launched mentorship and training programs for hundreds of AI enthusiasts across Ghana and the broader global community. He is also the co-founder of the Caretaker Volunteers Group (C_VOG), which delivers free healthcare services to marginalized populations in rural Ghana. His dedication to social good has earned him accolades, including the Global Engagement Scholarship and recognition from UNAIDS and district health authorities in Ghana. 

Bernard’s work is driven by a strong belief in the positive effects of technology when applied ethically, inclusively, and with a clear commitment to equity. As an emerging leader in AI and digital health, he continues to bridge the worlds of clinical practice and computational intelligence, inspiring a new generation of socially conscious innovators.
